Founded in Spain in 1960, Santillana has expanded its international presence, operating in over 20 countries across the Americas and Europe. The company specializes in creating and distributing materials for all educational stages, from early childhood to university. Its offerings cover subjects like language teaching, science, mathematics, humanities, and technology. Santillana's operations include publishing and distributing textbooks, supplementary materials, and digital learning platforms. They also provide teacher training programs and personalized educational projects for institutions.


The challenge

The primary challenge of this software development project for Santillana's Academic Learning Center was to create a comprehensive platform for educational tracking. This platform needed to enable seamless interaction among various roles, from directors to teachers, while simultaneously ensuring the security of sensitive data, content personalization, and scalability to accommodate the continuous growth of associated educational institutions. The complexity lay in crafting an intuitive and efficient user experience for everyone, safeguarding information privacy, and optimizing resource management to provide effective and high-quality educational support.

Goals

  • To centralize Educational Support: Create a comprehensive platform to manage and enhance the educational follow-up provided by Santillana to professors at educational institutions.
  • To optimize Communication: Facilitate interaction and communication among different roles (directors, teachers, coordination, etc.) to improve the effectiveness of the support.
  • To efficiently manage Content: Provide access to an extensive bank of educational and development resources personalized for each role involved in the process.
  • To continuously improve Support: Enable data collection and feedback to constantly adapt and enhance coaching and educational support services.

Solution

For the platform’s users, the solution represented a significant leap in educational management.

From the director’s perspective, it achieved complete control and a clear overview of the institution’s academic progress, enabling informed decision-making. Teachers benefited by gaining access to a vast repository of personalized resources to enhance their classes, while coordinators received an effective tool for assigning and monitoring the support provided by the coaches.

Coaches, in turn, had a platform that facilitated their interaction and delivery of relevant content to each institution. Advisors were able to offer a service more tailored to the institutions’ needs, and administrators effectively managed the platform’s content and security, providing everyone with an intuitive and enriching experience that improved educational quality at all levels.
